Tahlequah, OK ~ Funeral Services for Sally Blackwood will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday August 22, 2013 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Westville, Oklahoma with Pastor J.D. Steelman and Bro. B.J. Craig officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home Tahlequah.

Sally Blackwood was born March 17, 1932 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Good Money and Lucy (Nix) Thirsty and departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on August 19, 2013 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Sally married the love of her life John Blackwood on June 2, 1956. In their time together they served the Lord in ministry together for over 50 years. Sally enjoyed sewing, pottery, going to Thrift stores and doing word search puzzles. She loved to listen to gospel music and Cherokee hymns. She loved her family very much and enjoyed family gatherings. Sally loved to cook and as John said she cooked the old fashioned way . Her grandchildren were very special to her and she had a special place in her heart for each and every one of them. Sally touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of over 57 years John Blackwood of the home; 4 daughters Peggy Howard and husband Larry of Lakeland, FL, Lavina Ballard and husband Mike of Tahlequah, OK; Darlene Price and husband Dwayne of Stilwell, OK, and Kimberly Craig and husband Billy of Stilwell, OK; 1 son Sonny Hassle and wife Lorna of Brownsmills, NJ; her sister Ella Mae Chewey of Stilwell, OK; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
