Mary (Dunham) Barnette
February 25, 1922 ~ April 30, 2020

Mary (Dunham) Barnette, 98, of Muskogee, was born February 25, 1922 in Muskogee, OK to James and Edna (Isom) Dunham and peacefully passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Mary received her formal education at Muskogee Central High School. She continued her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, and completed her Master's Degree in English. Mary worked for the B.I.A. as a secretary for many years and worked in Real Estate Property Management for several years.

Mary married the love of her life Cheparney Barnette on December 2, 1940 in Muskogee, he preceded her in death September 13, 1964.

Mary had a great love for her church, Sovereign Grace Church where she was very active in the church activities and played the piano. Her love for her family and her church was evident in everything she did. Mary's legacy of love and devotion will be carried on by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and brothers and sisters.

Mary is lovingly survived by her sons; John C. Barnette Jr. (Dolly) of Muskogee, Benjamin Barnette of Hawaii and Bryan Barnette (Sue) of Hulbert; daughter, Leahna Knowles of Muskogee; 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

The family of Mary Dunham Barnette has entrusted her care and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson, OK. 918-478-2555
