Carolyn "Red" (Cole) Barnett

Carolyn "Red" Barnett, 88, of Warner, Oklahoma entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 9, 1934 in Porter, Oklahoma to Josh and Doris Lee (Thomson) Cole. She attended public school and graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1952 where she was a member of the flag drill team.

Carol married her best friend and the love of her life, John Henry Barnett, sharing many years of life, marriage and memories together until John passed on September 21, 2011.

In her early years she worked at First National Bank as a teller, a flight attendant for American Airlines and Muskogee Supply Inc as an accounts clerk. After all the children graduated, Carol returned to the work force as a billing coding specialist for Dr. Theodore and later for Dr. Coburn at Muskogee Family Medicine. While working there, she spent her weekends at Blue Ribbon Downs as a waitress/hostess supporting her husband John as he trained and raced their prized American quarter horses. She retired from Muskogee Family Medicine and continued working for Blue Ribbon Downs making many lifelong friends until leaving to be John's full-time caregiver.

She was a long time member of Muskogee First United Methodist Church and also Oktaha First Methodist Church before moving their membership to Blue Ribbon Fellowship Church of Sallisaw where she faithfully attended and served as a Sunday school teacher.

Carol's passing will leave a void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Doris Cole; her loving husband, John Henry Barnett; sons, John Henry Barnett Jr and Clint C Barnett; sister, Ramona Cole Summers; brothers, Graden Cole, Gorden Cole and James "Jim" Cole.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Pam Gosnell and husband Charles of Tahlequah; son, Jeff Barnett and wife Mary of Muskogee; daughter, Paula Cook and husband Kendall of Muskogee; grandchildren, Carol "Dede" Barnett, Heather Wolfe, John Barnett III, Lori Goodwin, Jennifer Walker, Julie Cochrane, Brian Gosnell, Jeffrey Barnett Jr, Brandi Miller, Grant Cook, and Katie Grace; 25 great-grandchildren; nieces, Christie Dycus and Lisa Carter; and nephew, Steven Cole; along with numerous friends who will greatly miss her.

A celebration of Carol's life will be 12:30PM, Friday, June 16, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Justin Haywood officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Jason Synar, Shane Frix, Bill Burlison, Ronnie Pevehouse, Ryan Herx and Ross Barnett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of her Sunday school class, Verna Pevehouse, Jeffrey Barnett Jr, Travis Miller, Grant Cook, Brian Gosnell and Michael Grace Jr.
