Virginia Doris Goforth Batson, 99 years and 6 months young, passed peacefully on February 9, 2026, just shy of her 100th birthday.

Virginia was born on August 31, 1926, to Andrew and Celia Goforth. She was proud of her Chickasaw and Choctaw heritage and spent much of her life in Davis, Oklahoma. On August 30, 1946, she married the love of her life, Roy W. Batson, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Together they built a beautiful life, raising three children and sharing 67 wonderful years of marriage before Roy’s passing in 2013. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and spent many years working alongside her family on their chicken farm before moving to Ardmore following Roy’s retirement from Dolese. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, especially trips to Sulphur Park where they enjoyed swimming and making memories together. As a young girl, Virginia learned to play the piano and French harp at her Aunt Lena’s home—talents she carried with her throughout her life. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, deep love for family, and the many lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Celia Goforth; her beloved husband, Roy W. Batson; her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Joe and Wynema Batson; her son-in-law, Paul E. Huckabaa; her grandson, Paul E. Huckabaa II; her sisters, Sylvia, Norma, Jean, Lorene, and Marie; and her brother, Alfred Allen Goforth.

Virginia is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Batson of Davis; her daughter, Linda Huckabaa of Choctaw; her sisters, Helen Goforth of Roff, Ellen Green of Roff, and Francis Church of Yukon; and her grandchildren, Tiffany McCoy (Thackerville), Jai Batson (Moore), Shlea Saxton (Oklahoma City), Nate McCoy (West Virginia), Cassie Batson (Norman), Michael Todd (Oklahoma City), Brian Batson (Davis), Suzanne Hall (Edmond), Jera Braly (Marietta), and Rainey Hitt (Thackerville). She also leaves behind twenty great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Virginia was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 5-7PM at the DeArman Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur.

Funeral services will follow on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 2PM in the DeArman Funeral Home Chapel in Sulphur with interment to follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
