WINTER, ELDON LOYD, SR. 1931-2001
Eldon Loyd Winter was born to George and Pauline (Koch) Winter on February 22, 1931 in Weatherford, Oklahoma and passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma having reached the age of 70 years, 8 months, and 2 days. Eldon was raised and attended school in Weatherford graduating in 1949. He joined the Air Force for 3 years serving as a mechanic. Eldon came back to Weatherford to go to Southwestern State University for 2 years. On June 8th, 1956, he married Margaret Downey and they made their home in Weatherford. They lived in Bethany, Guthrie, Oklahoma City, and settling in Clinton in 1927 where he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years retiring in 1987. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Eldon enjoyed computers, gardening, inventing, football, politics, and his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Eldon is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home in Clinton; two sons: Eldon Loyd Winter, Jr. and his wife Nancy, and James Winter, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters: Pam Yeakley and her husband, Steve of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Sandra Pool and her husband, Keith of Poteau, Oklahoma; two brothers: Harry Winter of Augusta, Kansas, and Gary Winter of Mustang, Oklahoma; two sisters: Lorene Messick of Seaford, Delaware, and Shirley Tolton of Yukon, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Eldon Winter III and his wife, Brandy, Bridget Winter, Adam Yeakley, Zachary Pool, and the twins, Bailey and Jessica Pool. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Leonard and Marvin.
Eldon Lloyd Winter passed away on October 24, 2001. Funeral services were held at the First Church of God in Clinton, Oklahoma with burial at the Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. Oklahoma. Eldon was born to George and Pauline (Koch) Winter on February 22, 1931 in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Downey) Winter, and his four children.
