OKEENE - Manfred A. Schmidt was born December 22, 1935 in Washita County, Oklahoma to A.R. and Freda Krewall Schmidt, and passed away Monday October 29, 2001 at the age of 65. He was a resident of the Okeene community for 15 years where he enjoyed his retirement. He attended Corn Bible Academy and Cordell High School. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Okeene. He was married to Frances Epp at Fairview, Oklahoma on April 8, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Alfred, Edwin, and Karl Schmidt. He is survived by his wife Francis (Fran) of the home in Okeene; two sons, Clayton and wife Anna of Fort Sheridan, Illinois and Curly of Fairfield, Texas; one daughter, Coletta and husband Rocky of Cordell, Oklahoma; one brother A. B. P. Schmidt of Corn, Oklahoma; six granddaughters, Heidi, Valeri, Cheyenne, and Savanna Schmidt, Rocsann and Cory Lynne Greer, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Manfred were held Thursday, November 1, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church in Okeene, Oklahoma with Rev. Leonard Vogt officiating. Burial followed Friday, November 2, 2001 at Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma with Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene in charge of arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
