Redman, William Leon 1939-2002
Funeral services for William Leon Redman, 63, who died Wednesday, October 16th, 2002 at Integris Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma were held Saturday, October 19th, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Helena, Oklahoma with Rev. Brantley Tillery officiating. Burial followed at Good Hope Cemetery near Helena, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Leon was born November 11th, 1939 in Cherokee, Oklahoma, the son of W. H. and Leona (Keiffer) Redman. He graduated from Helena High School in 1957 and went on to attend Northwestern State University graduating in 1961. In 1973 he received his Master's Degree in banking from Southern Methodist University. On June 7th, 1959 he and Clarice McCollum were married at the United Methodist Church in Helena. After graduating from Northwestern, Leon began his work career at the bank in Goltry where he continued until 1965. At that time, he went to First National Bank in Enid, Oklahoma as a loan officer. From 1976 to 1982 he worked for the Department of Human Services transferring to what is now James Crabtree Correctional Center as business manager where he worked until his retirement in June, 2001. Leon was a lifelong Goltry resident and had retired from the Goltry Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Helena United Methodist Church having served on several committees including trustees and pastor parish relations. At the time of his death, Leon was an active member of the Helena EMS Board of Directors. Survivors include one son, Rodney of Goltry, Oklahoma; one daughter, Rhonda and husband Joe Galish of Mesa, Arizona; two brothers: Lynn Henry and wife Amanda; and Lee and wife Jeannette, all of Goltry, Oklahoma; three grandchildren: Whitney Redman of Goltry; and Christian and Hunter Galish of Mesa, Arizona; mother-in-law, Ruth McCollum of Helena, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law: Sharon and husband Bob Meister; and Jan and husband Jimmy Stafford; one brother-in-law, Lindel McCollum and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice in August of 2000 and his parents. Memorials may be made to Helena Methodist Church or Timberlake Public School through Lanman Funeral Home, Inc.
