REISIG, JACOB DANIEL 1887-1958
Jacob Daniel Reisig was born in Shcherbakovaka, Russia on July 4, 1887. He passed away quietly in the Newman Memorial Hospital on Sabbath evening at the setting of the Sun, December 20, 1958. He was 71 years, 6 months, and 16 days old. He was married to Eva Elizabeth Steinert in Russia in 1910. To them were born four children: three sons and a daughter. In 1912, Mr. and Mrs. Reisig migrated to the United States and settled near Grant, Oklahoma. Here the family resided until 1925. That year they moved to a farm six miles southwest of Shattuck, Oklahoma. From this place the children could be sent to church school. They retired from the farm and moved to town in 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Reisig accepted the Adventist message and were baptized on January 4, 1914. Through the years Mr. Reisig has been a faithful member of the church. In the church he served on its Board, as a Deacon, Sabbath School Superintendent, and was Church Treasurer for many years. He was faithful in church attendance. Mr. Reisig has been lingering in ill health for a long period of time. An attempt to relieve his suffering was made by surgery on Dec. 15. Due to his weakened condition, he was unable to rally after the operation and passed away quietly December 20, 1958. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, William Leroy Reisig, who gave his life during WW II. He is survived by his wife, Eva; two sons: Elder Alex J. Reisig, of Spokane Washington; Leo C Reisig, of Shattuck, Oklahoma; a daughter: Mrs. Alvina Thornton of Portland, Oregon; a sister: Mrs. Carl Laubhan of Higgins, Texas; four grandchildren: Teddy and John Lee Reisig; Dolores Wisebey and Don Reisig, and one great grandchild; Randy Wisebey, along with a host of relatives and friends.
