J. W. NUSS, 63 DIES ON WAY TO HOSPITAL - Hoisington - John W. Nuss, 63, father of three Great Bend men, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, while being taken to Atkin Hospital. He had suffered a heart attack a few minutes earlier at his home at 450 West Fifth Street. Three sons who live in Great Bend are: Melvin, Vernon, and Lester Nuss. Nuss, a retired grocer, was born on a farm in northern Barton county and had lived in this community all his life. He owned and operated a Main Street grocery before retiring about seven years ago. Services will be conducted at the home at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow and then at the Emmanus Lutheran Church. The Rev. C. E. Frederickson will officiate. Burial will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Nuss also is survived by three sisters: Mrs. William F. Boxberger; Mrs. Jacob Dumler; Mrs. Jacob Maier, all of Russell, Kansas; two brothers: Henry of Bazine, Kansas and Ted of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and four grandchildren. His wife died in 1947.
