IN MEMORY OF MINNIE OLIVE (FREEMAN) McLAINE 1885-1981
Minnie Olive (Freeman) McLaine was born February 26th, 1885 at Warsaw, Missouri. She died Wednesday, May27th, 1981 at a Weatherford Hospital at age 96. She came with her family in a covered wagon to the Geary and Bridgeport area in 1890 from Missouri. She had lived in Geary, Binger, Tulsa, and Hinton most of her life. She had made her home with Bus and Pansy Freeman for many years. She married Edward David Freeman in 1901 at Geary, Oklahoma. Freeman preceded her in death in 1944 at Binger, Oklahoma. She later married Billy McLaine. He preceded her in death in Geary. She was the daughter of early pioneer residents of Geary, Hans Hamilton Smith and Martha Sisney. A housewife, she was also employed for several years by a hotel in Tulsa. She was a member of the Hinton United Methodist Church. Survivors include: three sons, Charley H. Freeman and Bus Freeman of Hinton, Oklahoma; and H. H. McLaine of El Paso, Texas; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Harley Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana; and three sisters: Odessa Neely of Louisiana, Daisy Clark of Mutual, Oklahoma, and Lilly Morris of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, including Mary Ann Coyle who died Friday, May 22nd, 1981. Services were held in the United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 30th, 1981 with Dr. Vernon Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Geary Cemetery under directon of Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
