FUNERAL NOTICE - MORRISON, LEROY 1936-2002
Graveside service for Leroy "Smokey" Morrison, 65, was held at Good Hope Cemetery near Helena on Monday, January 28th, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Dean Holt officiating. Arrangements were by Lanman Funeral Home, Helena. He was born at Mutual on April 27, 1936 and died at St. Mary's Regional Health Center Friday, January 25, 2002. Smokey was the son of Clinton Harold and Ruby Ester (Castor) Morrison and attended Sharon-Mutual Grade School and Woodward High School. On July 22nd, 1955, he and Roberta McCaskey were married in and made their home in Woodward. He entered the service serving in the U.S. Army and lived in Mountain View, Alaska. The rest of their married live was spent in Chandler, Arizona, Yukon, Helena, and for the last ½ years they lived in Breckenridge. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Woodward. Smokey was a man who loved everything about horses, fishing, and playing dominoes. He was a long-time member of Helena VFW and had served as Mayor of Helena for two years. His early life work was as a farmer and rancher, at one time working for National Feed Lot in Yukon. Later he was employed at Helena Training School for Boys, then at Enid State School in the farm program and finally, at James Crabtree Correctional Center in Helena as cafeteria supervisor, retiring in January 1991 because of his health. His survivors include his wife, Roberta of Breckenridge, two daughters and their husbands, Melody and Scott Betts of Lahoma, Kim and Richie Schoeling of Fairmont, one sister, Clara Lazette Spray of Woodward; four grandchildren, Stephanie Betts, Desireee Betts, Austin Schoeling and Dakota Schoeling. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Regional Health Center Cardiovascular-Pulmonary Research through the Lanman Funeral Home.
