CAMPBELL, JIMMY L. 1935-2002
Funeral services for Jimmy L. Campbell, 66, who died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Okeene Hospital were held on Monday, February 25, at Parker Chapel Christian Union Church near Ames with Pastors John Edwards and Steve Campbell officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Meno, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral home of Okeene. Jimmy was born on August 8, 1935 at Ringwood, Oklahoma, the son of Paul Bloxen Campbell and Ethel V. Veath Campbell. He graduated from Ringwood High School and attended college for one year before entering the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1958 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. On June 16, 1958 he and Sammie Ruth Tannahill were married at Ringwood and they shared 43 years of marriage. He was in the retail business for ten years in California, worked in real estate business and was a farmer for a time. In 1998 he retired from the USG Plant near Southard where he had worked as a night watchman for 13 years. He was a member of Parker Chapel Christian Union Church near Ames and had been a resident of the Ringwood, Ames, and Okeene area most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Sammie R. of the home; one son, Jimmy L. Campbell, Jr. and his wife Shelley of Enid; one daughter, Sherrie Renee Tinglum and her husband, Erick of Palouma, Washington; three grandchildren, Dylon Thomas Marler, Paul Charles Campbell, Cheyanne Autumn Campbell; two step-grandchildren, Cody Gonser, Zachary Ramey; one brother, Waldo L. Campbell and his wife, Mary of Ringwood; one nephew, Steve Campbell and his wife, Loretta of Ringwood as well as numerous cousins and beloved friends. Memorials may be made to the Parker Chapel Youth Camp through the funeral home. As printed in "The OKEENE RECORD", Thursday, February 28, 2002, Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma.
