BIERIG, GEORGE 1871-1941
George Bierig was born January 21st,1871 in Altbauer, Russia, and after a lingering illness for more than three years, passed away at 2 a.m. on June 6th, 1941 at his home here in Okeene, Oklahoma. Looking for a better and brighter future he came with his family on July 8th, 1892 to America, making their home in Durham, Kansas. From there he made the run in the Cherokee Strip on September 16th, 1893 settling near Isabella, Oklahoma. His family life was rich and filled with various experiences. He was married for the first time one week before sailing to America to Eva Elisabeth Beschauer in 1892. After ten years of happy married life, she passed away in 1902. From the seven children born to this union, 5 remained with him after her passing and three of them are still alive today. In 1904 on April 15th, 1904, he was married for the second time. It was in Marion, Kansas, where he and Sarah Morlong were united in Holy matrimony. God blessed this union with six children, all of whom, together with one step-child, are alive today. She passed away on June 18th, 1935. He was married for the third time July 1st, 1936. The wedding took place in Fairview, Oklahoma and his wife, the former Susie Brown shared with him life's joys and sorrows for the last five years. There were no children born to this union, but there are six step-children; five girls and one boy. He was the youngest and last of four sons. These have all passed away during very recent years: John in 1938; Jake in 1939; and George Jacob in 1940; and this year 1941, he was the last of them. He has two sisters who are still living today. They are Mary, now Mrs. Bohl; and Eva, now Mrs. Fischer, both of Chatanooga, Oklahoma. As pioneer farmer he was well known and greatly esteemed and has been a beloved father and affectionate husband. For approximately eight years he was the president of the Farmers State Bank of Isabella, Oklahoma and one of the directors of the Farmers Union Exchange Company of Isabella. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of the Chapter here in Okeene, Oklahoma. His parents as members of the Lutheran church, took him to the church for Baptism. He has reached the age of 70 years, 4 months, and 16 days and among those who stand in silence to mourn his passing are the following: Mrs. George Bierig, his beloved and esteemed wife. There are ten children: five girls, and 5 boys: Henry Bierig of Isabella, Oklahoma; Sarah, now Mrs. Fred Fischer of Chatanooga, Oklahoma; Fred Bierig of Fairview, Oklahoma; Sam Morlong of Isabella, Oklahoma; Eva, now Mrs. Edison Fuller of Isabella, Oklahoma; Leah, now Mrs. Orval Reames of Isabella, Oklahoma; Solomon Bierig of Isabella, Oklahoma; Martha, now Mrs. Floyd Blair of Okeene, Oklahoma; Reuben Bierig of Isabella, Oklahoma; and Elsie, now Mrs. Eddy Metzler of Isabella, Oklahoma. There are 34 grandchildren; 5 step-daughters and 9 step grandchildren, and many friends and associates.
