BAKER, EARL Jr. 1925-2002
Earl Baker, Jr., son of Earl and Roxie Baker was born on April 22nd, 1925 in Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma. He departed this life on December 13th, 2002. Earl, better known as Jr. to his friends and family, received his education through the public schools of Oklahoma and graduated Okeene High School in 1943 and attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He served in the Korean War and following his discharge, returned to work in the oil industry. After 37 years in this field, Earl retired in 1988 as the Drilling Superintendent of National Cooperative Refinery Association. Earl and Doris Kubat were married on February 13th, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. Moving frequently during the first part of their marriage, they settled in Great Bend, Kansas for over 35 years. There they raised three children: Christy, Stacie, and Curt. In 1993, due to his illness, Earl and Doris moved to Broomfield, Colorado. Anyone who knew Earl understood his love for both hunting and fishing. He raised hunting dogs, grew vegetable gardens, enjoyed country western music, and played a mean game of pool. He made friends whereever he went and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Earl is survived by his wife Doris: their three children: Christy Tuttle, Stacie Hamilton, and Curtis Baker; their spouses, Rick Tuttle, Craig Hamilton, and Norie Baker; grandchildren: Amber Proffitt, Justin Baker, Zachery Baker, Chandra Boren, and Jennifer Bazil; great granddaughter, Olivia Lopez; sisters, Alice Schnell and Iola Chandler. There was a cremation by Rundus Funeral Home, where a Rosary was held December 17th, 2002 in Broomfield, Colorado. The memorial services were held Wednesday, December 18th, 2002 at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Broomfield, Colorado. Luncheon followed in the Waybill room. Earl will be buried not far from his place of birth in Okeene, Blaine County, Oklahoma. A graveside memorial service conducted by Wilkinson Mortuary will be held at Collins Cemetery on Saturday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, the family will receive friends and relatives at a luncheon in the basement of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Okeene, Oklahoma. The family has designated the following to receive donations in memory of Earl Baker, Jr. Hospice of Boulder County, 2594 Trailsridge Drive East, Suite A, Lafayette, Colorado, 80026, (303) 449-7740.
