BARTLETT

Lou BARTLETT, long time resident, was found dead in the bathtub at his home early Sunday, when neighbors went in to see him.
In failing health for some time and confined to his home for two weeks. Death was attributed to natural causes.
Graveside services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 with burial in New Hope cemetery.
He is survived by two sisters, but efforts to locate them, failed.

BOX

A paralytic stroke suffered the week before proved fatal to Pioneer Jas. D. BOX late Thursday in a Prairie Grove hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Roberts Chapel, with Rev. W.M. ISAACS, Baptist minister, officiating.
Burial was in Zion Cemetery.
Born January 9, 1844 in Washington County, Ark., Mr. BOX was 65 years, three months and 26 days of age.
He had lived in or near Stilwell for 35 years.
Surviving are his wife of the home, and nine daughters and one son.
Three children preceded him in death.

BUTLER

Death came early Saturday morning in Hastings hospital, Tahlequah, to Mrs. Laura PADEN BUTLER, sister of County Attorney Owen GRANT, following an extended illness.
Funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Roberts Chapel, with Rev. C.M. ROSSER, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating.
Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. BUTLER was born Laura INLOW, on December 27, 1865 in the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) near Red River and was 83 years, 6 months and 26 days of age.
Her forebearers came from Alabama before the Civil War and settled at what is now Rock Springs, four miles southeast of Stilwell.
She attended the schools of the Cherokee Nation, including the Female Seminary at Park Hill, near Tahlequah. After finishing school, she taught in various schools of the Cherokee Nation and Oklahoma.
On February 12, 1890 she was married to Harrison J. PADEN, and to this union a daughter was born. She only lived from May to July 1895. Early in 1896 Mr. and Mrs. PADEN moved to Stilwell, where he served as postmaster until his death in 1906. Appointed to succeed her husband, Mrs. PADEN served as postmaster until May 1907.
In 1910 she moved to her girlhood home at Grove, and taught school there for several years.
In 1930 she was married to James P. BUTLER, and they made their home at Jay until his death in 1945.
She moved to Stilwell last fall, and lived in the Tom PADEN home before moving to the home of her brother and Mrs. GRANT.
She was a life long member of the Methodist church, and helped organize and establish the first Methodist church here.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, and was past matron of the Stilwell and Grove chapters.
Besides Mr. GRANT she is survived by a brother, Henry INLOW of Grove, a step-son, James BUTLER of Southwest City, Mo., and a number of nephews and nieces.
Bearers were C.L. FLETCHER, Henry BUCKNER, E.B. ARNOLD, Edgar WEST, Joe STARR and James SCACEWATER.
