Ronnie Grizzard’s life began on April 5th, 1957, in Pierce, Oklahoma. He was the sixth of twelve children born to Jesse Jolee and Helen (Jackson) Grizzard, Jr. Ronnie attended Warrior and Pierce schools prior to Checotah, where he graduated in 1975. He played football and ran track. After graduation, Ronnie began working construction with his late uncle J. B . Grizzard, but had to quit due to ill health. To the world he was known as Ronnie but to family and friends he was affectionately known as “Fatt Daddy”. Ronnie loved his family and was a kind loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Accepting Jesus at an early age, Ronnie rededicated himself to the Lord at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Rev. Eli Behn.

On November 4th, 2011, Ronnie took his place in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Jolee Grizzard, Jr. and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by a loving family, his mother, Helen (Jackson) Grizzard and sister, Rita Grizzard, of the home, Garnett (Azellia) Burkhalter, of Tulsa, OK, Stanley Lyons, of Checotah, OK, Ray Vaughn (Stella) Baker, of Stockton, CA, Elaine (Donald) Johnson, Elvra Lee and Alvra Grizzard, all of Oklahoma City, OK, Deautry ( Harry, Sr.) Gatewood, Deno Grizzard, Eletha (Marcus) Burkhalter, all of Checotah, OK, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services for Ronnie will be held Thursday, November 10th, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Warrior Cemetery, with Rev. Eli Behn, officiating.

Visitation hours are today from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Ragsdale Funeral Center.
