Margie Marie Thomas, 88 year old Checotah resident, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at her daughter's home in Los Gatos, CA. She was the fourth child born to Charles Britton and Maggie (Doshier) Ellis on Sunday, March 7, 1926 in Hoyt, Oklahoma. She went to Checotah High School and graduated in 1944. That same year she married her sweetheart John Thomas while home on leave from the Navy during WWII. She loved to dance, cook, play cards and dominoes with her family. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas; parents Maggie and Charles; brothers, Arthur and Odell Ellis; and sisters, Maxine Colburn and Diane Stidham. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Linda Cunningham of Nevada and Jonnye Cartmill of California; grandchildren, Lisa Vargas, Mark Harmon, Michael and Taylor Cartmill and her great grandson, Rohan Bailie Harmon as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Services celebrating the life of Margie will be held 11 AM Friday, February 13, 2015 in the Serenity Chapel of Garrett Family Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Loftin, Senior Minister of First United Methodist Church officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the personal direction of John Garrett.
