Mary Yvetta Hicks passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, in Durant, Oklahoma. She was born on September 14, 1947, in Valliant, Oklahoma.

Yvetta surrounded herself with gnomes, carousel horses, beautiful silk flowers, and photos of loved ones. She loved yard sales and shopping trips and always found a new pair of earrings (or three!) to add to her collection. She was always well dressed and stylish and firmly believed in ironing and starching all her clothing. She adored her two special dogs, Cesar and Sam, and spoiled them with toys and their favorite sweet potato snacks. Spring and summer were her favorite seasons, as that meant trips to the garden centers for new houseplants. She never ran out of room for a new plant (or three!). She particularly enjoyed giving cuttings of her plants to friends. She was loved greatly and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to be part of her life.

She is survived by her son, Keith McDaniel, her daughter, Dena Rymel, and her special son-in-law, John Rymel. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Allison McDaniel, Madison (McDaniel) Scott, Jarod McDaniel, Krystopher Gross, Sarah Bishop, Ellen Kleinert, and her many great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Preceding her in death are her husband, James (Jim) Hicks, her mother, Fredalene Warford, her father, James Ruffin, and her siblings, Troy, Gordon, and Jim Ruffin, and sister Minnie Bea Liggett.

Yvetta will be inurned at Joe Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City, Oklahoma. A service to celebrate her life and share cherished memories will be held at a later date.

Services are under the care of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Avenue, Durant, Oklahoma 74701.
