Funeral Services for Mr. Leon Hunkapillar, 80, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00 a. m. in the Herb Clark Memorial Chapel with Brother Harold Scates officiating. The interment will take place at 3:00 p. m., the same day, at the Hochatown Cemetery near Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Mr. Hunkapillar passed away on March 27, 2016 at his home.

Leon was born on July 15, 1935 in Glover, Oklahoma to Light P. Hunkapillar and Dottie (Swafford) Hunkapillar. He grew up in McCurtain County and graduated from high school at Broken Bow. He served in the United States Army from 1958-1961, 19 of those months in Germany. He married Faye Nix in October of 1963. Leon worked as a building contractor doing carpentry and brick and stone masonry, until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia Stephens, his brother, Roland and two sisters, Mary Belle Tucker and Mae Pollard.

Leon is survived by his wife Faye, of the home, his daughter, Brenda McDaniel of Guthrie, Oklahoma, his son, Danny Hunkapillar of Tishomingo, three sisters, Wanda Anderson and Zona Mills, both of Irving, Texas and Ellen Huffman of Broken Bow, eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be: Nathan Stephens, Josh McDaniel, Zach Hunkapillar, Brandon Rowan, Jeremy Studdard and Jess Rider.  Honorary Bearers will be: Sam Combs, Sr., Sam Combs, Jr., Jay Combs, Bill Tom Erichsen, Norman Dawson, David Hallmark, Dillon Stephens and Harold Scates.
