Larry Tompkins, age 50 of Washington, passed away Thursday March 14, 2013. Larry Dale Tompkins was born January 25, 1963 in Oklahoma City, OK, the only child of Jimmie Dale Tompkins and Brenda Sue (Love) Tompkins. Larry spent his early childhood in Moore where he began school. They moved to Washington at the end of his 7th grade year. While in school, Larry excelled in sports. He especially liked to play football and baseball. Larry graduated from Washington High School in 1981, and from there it was on to East Central, where he played baseball. Larry then spent some time at Rose State College before starting work for Kerr McGee, now known as Citgo. He was currently employed there as an Oil Blender. Larry married young, and to this union, a son, Jeff and daughter Jill were born. He later met Lisa Ann Frock, they were married on July 17, 2010 in Las Vegas. As a young boy, Larry loved being around horses and he continued this love throughout his life. He logged in many hours as a horse trainer. His true passion however was his family, especially his children. Larry was very active in his kid’s activities and sporting events. He spent many a spring and fall coaching little league teams and he touched many lives. He served as the President of the Washington Little League All Sports Association for many years. He spent countless hours fundraising and was proud to be able to purchase equipment for the leagues and Washington schools. He was a hard worker, a great provider and a wonderful example for others. Larry had a big heart, he was always happy and he always put the needs of others before his own. He will be dearly missed!
Larry leaves behind: His wife, Lisa Tompkins of the home; His daughter, Jill Lauren Tompkins of Moore and His son, Jeff Tompkins of Washington; His parents, Jimmie and Brenda Tompkins of Washington; Many other family and countless friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
