Robert “Dayton” Royse M.D., age 91 of Goldsby, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

He was born December 5, 1929 in Moorewood, Oklahoma, the baby of 4 children born to Benjamin Tupman Royse and Etta Faye (Maxey) Royse. Dayton was raised in Elk City and attended school there. He answered the call of service to his country by lying about his age at 16, and enlisting in the United States Navy. He then began taking classes at the U niversity of Oklahoma, before returning to the Navy, and serving in Korea. Dayton was a true patriot and proud of his service. Back home now in Oklahoma, he returned to school at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Dayton later returned to medical school at OU, and followed his dream of one day being a Doctor. He married young, to Kay Kimball, and to this union, two children, Robert and Reddy were born. Dayton first worked as a General Practitioner in Weatherford. In 1971 he met a young nurse named Brenda Jo Fletcher. They were the perfect couple, and were later married on November 12, 1975, in Oklahoma City. They eventually settled in Goldsby, where they raised two more sons, Ryan and Randy. Dayton worked in the South Oklahoma City area, doing anesthesiology. He was a hard worker, and stayed busy back home on his horse ranch, the 4R Ranch. Dayton lived a full life; he enjoyed his family and loved his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to go to beach. Dayton was a true patriot and proud of his service to his country, and he was the biggest Sooner Football fan. But if you asked him of all his accomplishments in life, he would say the greatest of them all was finding Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Dayton was a wonderful husband and father; grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Benjamin and Etta Faye Royse; his sister, Marcella Kovar and two brothers, Junior Royse and Dana Royse.

Dayton is survived by: his wife Brenda of the home; daughter, Reddy Royse of Elgin, IL; his boys, Rob Royse and wife Catherine of Dallas, TX, Ryan Royse and wife Stephanie of Argyle, TX and Randy Royse of Los Angeles, CA; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Goldsby Church. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery. Send online condolences
