(Permission Granted)

W.D. ‘Dub’ McIntosh, 89, passed away peacefully at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Norman, OK on March 12, 2017.

Born June 17, 1927 in Blanchard, OK, he spent most of his early years growing up in the country near Blanchard and Washington, OK. After graduating from Washington High School, Dub married Jerry Ann Cowan in June 1945. The two enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 71 years living around the world until moving to Norman in 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Christeen McIntosh, and brother, Vernon McIntosh. Dub was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947 and was sent to Warrenton, VA to be in Army Security Agency (ASA). He graduated from OU School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering. Beginning in 1957, he began a worldwide career as a geophysicist first with Sun Oil Company then Gulf Oil. He worked in Karachi, Pakistan; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Maracaibo and San Tome, Venezuela; Africa, Papua New Guinea and Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and was awarded a Silver Certificate in 1992. His greatest joys were his times spent with immediate and extended family and friends – especially his granddaughter, Jade, his career in oil exploration, his decades of weekly Science News magazine and reading in general, cars, golf, tennis, gardening, walks with his dogs Duke and Molly and his boundless enthusiasm for the OU Sooners. Dub was never idle, but always busy and available to help others. After traveling and working around the world, he loved returning to OK and living in Norman near family.

He is survived by his wife, Jerry Ann McIntosh; daughters, Pam McIntosh, Paula McIntosh and husband, Jaime Arreola, of Norman; a granddaughter, Jade Hutchison and husband, Jeramey, of Jackson Hole, WY; two sisters, Carol Burns and Angie Deason of Washington, OK; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

The family wishes to extend their heart-felt appreciation to the staff at the Oklahoma Veterans Center E-1 Unit and to Valir Hospice for their caring and loving service.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 18th at Washington Cemetery in Washington, OK. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Norman, 555 South University Avenue, Norman, OK, 73069.
