Vera Madden, age 79 of Washington, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the Norman Regional Hospital.

Vera Faye Dover was born August 20, 1939 in Washington, the 4th of 8 children born to Joseph and Pauline Elizabeth (Nelson) Dover. She was raised in Washington and attended Washington schools. Vera married her best friend and the love of her life, Samuel Ezekiel Madden, on April 11, 1958. They first lived on the family farm near Washington and in Norman for a few years, before returning back home to Washington. Together they raised 5 children, sons, Roger and Chad and daughters, Shelly, Holley and Stephanie. Vera began working for Lucent Technologies, retiring as a Process Checker after more than 27 years of dedicated service. Her greatest joy however was her family. She enjoyed the everyday little moments in life and especially cherished her time with her grandchildren. Vera was an avid baseball and softball fan. She loved OU Softball and followed her granddaughter at all of her games. Her favorite baseball team was the St. Louis Cardinals and she made many trips to see them play. Vera was a crafty lady. She etched glass and mirrors and made pottery. She was a gifted quilter and enjoyed crocheting, and she shared her talents with her family and friends.
