William Henry “T-Buck” Folks age 92, of Purcell, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Purcell Hospital.

He was born on June 28, 1926 in Washington, Oklahoma. His parents were Isaac Warren Folks and Silva Catherine (Green) Folks. T-Buck grew up working in his father’s blacksmith shop in Washington. After his junior year in high school in 1944, he was drafted into the United States Army. T-Buck served two years during WW II then returned home to Washington and graduated with the class of 1947. From 1946 – 1950 he served in the United States Air Force Reserves, then from 1951-1952 he was called back into active duty for the Korean Conflict.

On July 29, 1950, T-Buck married the love of his life, Dorotha Jean Morris. Together they raised three children while making Purcell their home. All three graduated from Purcell High School and the University of Oklahoma. For 39 years, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an Aircraft Mechanic, retiring in 1988.

He was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Washington Lodge #27 and the Purcell Lodge #406 and Past Worshipful Master. He was a member of the Purcell First Baptist Church for over 50 years and served as an usher and member of the counting committee. After retiring, T-Buck kept busy by being a volunteer in Purcell. He drove a bus for Delta, helped organize the Salvation Army annual bell ringing, and served as a Purcell Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for many years.

T-Buck loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies at Wal-Mart and at Ruby’s. He enjoyed gardening, playing card games and board games, and he was always ready with a joke and a smile. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by:

Parents,                 I. W. and Silva Folks,

Wife,                     Dorotha Folks in 2015,

Two infant brothers,

Sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Morris Kern,

Son-in-law,                     John Vanlandingham,

Nephew and his wife,                “Bud” and Ruth Kern, great nephew Johnny Kern.

He is survived by:

Three children,                Lloyd Folks and wife Linda of Brazoria, TX,

                                      Patti Vanlandingham of San Antonio, TX,

                                      Karen Horoho and husband Michael of Purcell.

Eight grandchildren, Jason Vanlandingham (Amanda) of San Antonio,

          Zac Vanlandingham of San Antonio, Lloyd Dale Folks Jr. (Marisol) of Lake Jackson, TX, Justin Folks (Katie) of Lake Jackson, TX, Grant Horoho and Philip Horoho of Purcell, Craig Horoho of Greentown, IN, and Lindsay Charles (Joyce) of South Bend, IN

Seven great grandchildren, Caitlin Folks, Joaquin Folks, Brantley Folks, Jackson Charles, Evelyn Charles, Temperance Charles and Halle Charles.

One niece, Louise Guyer and husband Jack of Elgin, TX.

And a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Purcell. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery in Washington, OK.
