Dickie Von Gowens, age 75 of Wayne, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 in his home

Dickie was born April 2, 1939 in Rosedale, OK, the 5th of 6 children born to Lecil M. Gowens and Roma Opal (White) Gowens.

He grew up in Rosedale and attended school there. At a very young age, Dickie married his first love; a young lady from Lindsay, OK named Mary Elizabeth Wright. Together they raised 3 children, daughters, Kim and Kelli and son, Mike. For many years, Dickie worked as a cable splicer for the telephone company. His heart was in his land, and he loved working cattle and farming his 100 acre ranch.

Dickie later married Margaret Jean Bain, and he welcomed her daughters, Pam and Sherri as two families became one. Dickie was an excellent cook, a trade he learned from both his mama and while in the service, and his specialty was his Bar-B-Que. He liked to play cards and especially poker with his good friends. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend. He will be greatly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His wives, Mary Gowens and Margaret Gowens. His parents, Lecil and Roma Gowens. His step daughters, Pam Smith and Sherri Clark, both in June of 2014. Sister, Nell Dean Gowens and 2 brothers, Bob and Jack Gowens.

Dickie leaves behind: His son, Mike Gowens and wife Jenny of Purcell. 2 daughters, Kim Thomas and husband Tony of Elmore City and Kelli Henry and husband Dennis of Purcell. Sister, Betty Roberson of Wayne and Brother, Terry Gowens and wife Glenda of Midwest City. Grandchildren, Jena, Megan, Hunter and Tara, Zach, Casey and Tracy; Skitter, Nick and Brandon; Great grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Jasmine, Juleana and Ellie and several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery.
