Alma Boles, age 89 of Rosedale, passed away Tuesday June 9, 2015, at the Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell. Alma Ruth Burden was born November 4, 1925 in Whitewright, TX, the oldest of 10 children born to Clarence Burden and Bonnie M. (Hopper) Burden. She was raised in the Whitewright area and attended school there. By the young age of 13, Alma was married. She worked hard as a homemaker, caring and providing for her 3 sons, Dwayne, Gary and Roger. Alma was an excellent cook and for more than 25 years, she delighted locals at Ruby’s Restaurant in Purcell. On October 31, 1968, Alma married Alvie Lester Boles in Norman, and they made their home in Rosedale. Alma was a gifted quilter and she enjoyed blessing others with her works. She was faithful member of the Rosedale Baptist Church. Alma was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a good friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her son, Gary Kenneth Anderson; 2 Grandchildren, Kent Anderson and Amy Unsell; Her parents, Clarence and Bonnie Burden; 2 brothers, William and C.B. Burden and 2 sisters, Paula Johnson and Dolly Hall.

Alma leaves behind: Her husband, Alvie Boles, of the home; Her sons, Dwayne Anderson and wife Linda of Purcell and Roger Anderson and wife Janice of Midwest City; 2 brothers, Bobby Burden of Little Rock, AR and James Burden of Leonard, TX; 3 sisters, Julia Shaw of Pilots Point, TX, Mary Jernigan of Goldthwaite, TX and Martha Hancock of Leonard, TX; 2 grandsons, John Clay Anderson of Purcell and Miles Wayne Anderson of Norman; 1 great grandson, Ace Anderson and 1 step great granddaughter, Adlee Croslin; Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2015, at the Rosedale Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com

Alvie Lester Boles age 100 of Rosedale, OK, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell.

He was born April 14, 1919 in Salem, Arkansas. Alvie was the oldest of nine children born to William Robert Boles and Cleo Patrie (McBride) Boles.

His family moved to Oklahoma when he was one year old and settled near the Rosedale area. He attended Signal Hill country school and worked as a farmer until he was drafted into the U. S. Army. Alvie proudly served his country for four years during WWII and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged, Alvie returned home to Oklahoma and played semi pro baseball for the Pauls Valley Raders in the late 1940's and early 1950's. After his baseball years were over he began working as a Brick Layer. He worked as a Brick Layer for the rest of his working years and was a member of the Oklahoma Brick Layer Union Local #5 and the International Brick Layers Union.

On October 31, 1968, Alvie married Alma Ruth Burden Anderson. They first lived in Norman for three years before making Rosedale their permanent home in 1971.

Alvie was a faithful member of the Rosedale Baptist Church for many years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, William and Cleo Boles, and Wife, Alma Ruth Boles on June 9, 2015. Six sisters, Orpha Lee Gourlay, Edna Hall, Ophelia McCall, Peggy Davis, Jane Avery and Wilma Lois Boles. Four half-sisters, Pearl Johns, Lula Vincent, Alma Stroud and Lorene Prater. One half brother, Paul Boles. Step son, Gary Kenneth Anderson. Two step-grandchildren, Kent Anderson and Amy Unsell

He is survived by: One brother, Ed Boles and wife Jeanetta of Rosedale. One sister, Odell Qualls and husband Kenneth of Byars. Two step-sons, Dwayne Anderson and wife Linda of Purcell, Roger Anderson of OKC. Two step-grandsons, Clay Anderson of Purcell, Miles Anderson of Norman. One step-great grandson, Ace Anderson. And many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 at Rosedale Baptist Church in Rosedale, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rosedale First Baptist Church Building Fund, 39940 Arkansas Ave, Rosedale, OK. 74831. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
