Duane Edward Baker Obit

Duane Edward Baker was born to George Edward and Frances (Ryan) Baker in Anthony, KS on 16 May 1945

Duane attented school in Wakita, OK. He and his family lived on a farm at this time. He then attended college at Oklahoma State for two years and received a degree in electronics.

Duane Edward married Mary Catherine Benson on 21 Mar 1965 in Wakita, OK. They were blessed with two daughters, Anita and Sherry.

Due to his job with the telephone company and the related moves they lived in Alva, OK, Sabetha, KS and Topeka, KS. They then moved to Wichita, KS in April of 2018.

Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed doing church work and studying the Bible. He enjoyed working in the garden and flying. He held a General Radiotelephone Operator license, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and had a private pilot's liense.

Duane passed away at his home in Wichita, KS on Friday, 22 May 2020 at the age of 75.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carrol Fowler and three sisters, Vivian Moore, Evelyn McDonald and Bernice McClaflin.

Duane will be deeply missed by his wife, Cathy Baker and daughters Anita Weathers and husband Jim, and Sherry Durham and husband Chad. Five grandchildren; Nikole English, Dilan English, Brenden Weathers, Brady Weathers and Alyssa Durham. One great-grandchild Aleah Hensley. Three sister-in-laws, but sisters by choice, Beverly, Diana and Rita along with a host of friends and relatives.

His funeral service was held on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 at 11am at Northside Church of Christ, 4545 N. Meridan Ave., Wichita, KS with Jim Weathers officating.

His visitation was held on Monday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony, KS.

Graveside services were held at the Rosedale Cemetery on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 at 3pm.

Memorials in memory of Duane may be made to Know Your Bible or to the Rosedale Church of Christ Cemetery Fund and may be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.
