Services for Elbert Levi Hankins was held at Cowley-Krien Funeral Home chapel. Interment was at Johnsonville Cemetery in Byars.

Elbert died April 17, 1997 at Byars. He was born to Charles L. and Nevada June Hankins at Johnsonville, OK on July 11, 1914.

Elbert was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a mechanic for Dow Chemical and had lived in Sulphur since 1979, moving there from Byars.

He is survived by daughters, Darlene Harvill, Sulphur, Charlene Goodson, Wapanucka, Evon Duke, Vernal, UT, Shirley Sims, Enid and Pat Hargis, Bloomfield, NM. Sons Buddy, Midwest City, and Danny, Sulphur. Four stepchildren, John Talbert, Edmond, Paula Hinsley, Mike and James Talbert, Sulphur, 40 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
