Lois Florene Smith, 85, died July 22, 2006.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28 at the Freewill Baptist Church in Blanchard. The Rev. Nathaniel Thomas will officiate and burial will be in the Blanchard Cemetery. Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard made the arrangements.

Smith was born December 25, 1920 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Lela Mae (Fears) and Roy Lee Black.

Lois graduated from Chickasha High School and was the manager of a school cafeteria in Fresno, Calif., serving as their dietitian for 33 years. She was a Life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #3608 and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church since moving to Blanchard in 1981.

Lois volunteered at the Veterans Hospital for many years and enjoyed swinging on her front porch, gardening and especially being with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Harley Howery and his wife, Launa, of Yuma, Ari., David Howery of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Ramona Allen and Mike Tackett of Blanchard, Vermell Lawrence of Fresno, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, daughter Avilene Howery, a sister, and a brother.
