William Henry “Bud” Thomas age 87, of Newcastle passed away at his home Thursday, June 13, 2019.

He was born May 27, 1932 in Newcastle, Oklahoma. He was the 4th child of five children born to Frank Henry Thomas and Jessie Irene (Barefoot) Thomas. Bud grew up learning how to work hard as a farm boy, living on a farm south east of Newcastle. He attended Newcastle schools, graduating with the class of 1950. After high school he attended Oklahoma A & M now Oklahoma State University. In 1954 Bud graduated with his BS Degree in Agronomy, with a minor in Entomology and Chemistry.

After graduating from college, Bud took a job in Arizona, working as an Entomologist. While living in Arizona, Bud met and later married the love of his life, Donna Deane Goehring. They were married on September 25, 1958 in Mesa, Arizona and together raised three sons, Bryan, Brad and Doug. Bud and Donna lived in Arizona until 1974. At that time he moved back to Newcastle and took over his family farming operations. For several years he milked cows and farmed. In 1976, he went to work full time for the State of Oklahoma as an Environmental Engineer and Health Inspector. After retiring from the State of Oklahoma, Bud started his own business called "Thomas Environmental". He ran this business until his health began to fail and he had to retire.

Throughout his life, Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being in the outdoors and working with his hands and gardening. While in his 70's, Bud gave his life to the Lord, was baptized and became a member of the Newcastle First Baptist Church. He loved get-together and especially enjoyed having Sunday dinners at his home with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by:

Parents, Frank and Jessie Thomas.

Sister, Annie Camp and her husband Carlton.

Brother, Rex Thomas,

And infant brother, Gerald Thomas.


He is survived by:

Wife of 60 years, Donna Thomas of the home in Newcastle.

Three sons, Bryan Thomas and wife Kathleen of Moore, OK,

Brad Thomas of Shawnee,

Doug Thomas of Newcastle.

One sister, Frankie Jo Stacy of Pennsylvania.

One sister-in-law, Carol Thomas of Sherman, TX.

Seven grandchildren,Tyler Thomas and wife Kathrine, Brittany Thomas, Collin Thomas,

Josh Thomas and wife Ashley, Sara Thomas, Baylee Thomas and Brooke Thomas.

Three great grandchildren,  Charolette, Declan and Easton.

Also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, June 17, 2019, at Newcastle First Baptist Church. A visitation with family and friends will be from 6-8pm Sunday evening, June 16, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave, Newcastle, OK. 73065.

Interment will be at the Newcastle Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Newcastle First Baptist Church Missions Fund.
