Leslie “Les” Wayne Benson Obit

Oct 04, 1965 - Oct 01, 2015

Vondel L. Smith Funeral Home
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co, OK
(permission granted)

Les, 49, passed away Oct 1, 2015.

The son of Janice Kay & Floyd Benson II. Les was born Oct 4, 1965, in Altus, OK. A 1983 graduate of Moore High School, Les enjoyed the rodeo and horseracing, resulting in a scholarship to East Central University in Ada, OK.

On July 26, 2002, Les married his true love Andrea "Andi" Anne White. He provided a loving home for his family by teaching, coaching, and working for many years as a sheet metal fabricator at Tyler Sheet Metal. Most of all, Les loved his wife, children, family, friends, church, and community. Les thrived on being a wonderful husband, father and mentor to youth. Whether he was coaching a championship little football team, volunteering as the field coordinator for Bridge Creek HS football team, volunteering as the field coordinator for Bridge Creek Booster Club President, being honored as a recipient of the Lifetime Bobcat Award, or worshipping at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Les was a hardworking, upstanding, family man who positively influenced the lives of others. His biggest accomplishment however, was being a father to four amazing sons. His presence on earth will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in knowing we will be reunited with him someday in Heaven.

He leaves cherished memories with his loving wife of 13 years, Andi Benson; sons: Garrett, Chase & Mattie, Bryce, & Brady Benson; Father Floyd Benson II & wife, Paulette; mother, Janice Thedford & husband Pat; sisters: Lori Crabb and Marci Singletary & husband, Brad; grandchildren: Sophie & Hadley Benson; In-laws: Janie & Dennis Pruett; sisters-in-law: Maisie Kelley with husband Derek, Kelli Pruett; brothers-in-law: Scott White and Ryan Pruett with wife Kyra; aunt & uncle Lou & Roy Wood; paternal grandparents Pauline & Ross Marlow; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & other extended family & friends.

Memorials may be made to Great Plains Bank in Tuttle, OK.

Viewing will be held from 4-8pm Monday Oct 5th at the funeral home. Services to honor his life will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, Oct 6, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Newcastle, with burial following at Newcastle Memorial Gardens.
