Rose Beattie age 77 of Norman, OK went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 following heart surgery.

Rose Marie Beattie was born on March 7, 1938 in Tulsa, OK. She was the youngest of four children born to Emery James Queen and Rose Marie (Brown) Queen. Rose grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1957. One week after graduating, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Wallace Beattie. They were married on May 17, 1957 in Tulsa. They lived in Wichita, KS for one year before moving back to OKC where she began her lifelong career in sales. She first began selling shoes for J. C. Penny’s at Shepherd Mall. In 1972, she went to work for New York Life which has lasted for 43 years. In 1982, Rose was number two in the Nation among the 8,500 NYL Sales Agents in the U. S. and Canada. At the same time she was named first woman to be named as Vice President on the New York Life Council. This past year 2104, she received her 28th NYL “Top Oklahoma Agent of the Year” Award. Over the years she received many awards and honors from her profession; however none brought her more joy than the love she received from teaching little children about the Lord. Rose was a faithful Christian and longtime member of the Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. Together she and Bill taught children Sunday school for many years. She had a special place in her heart for children and would do anything for “The Kids”. Rose also enjoyed singing and for many years sang in the Church Choir at her church and at other churches. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Rose loved her children and grandchildren very much. She really enjoyed zoo trips with the grandkids and really enjoyed the holidays with all her family. Grandma also called “Mimi” will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Emery and Marie Queen; Two sisters, Vera Blair and Alma Stith;

She is survived by: Husband of 58 years, Bill Beattie of the home; Two daughters, Cogi Beattie of Norman, Beth Dewey and husband Ferris of Trinidad, CO; One son, William “Wally” Beattie and wife Jennifer of Norman; Six grandchildren, Josh and Tasha Knotts, Christina Robinson, Preston, Skylar Rose and Benjamin Beattie; Two great grandchildren, Kayle and Kyla; One sister, Nancy Petty and husband George of Tulsa; Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle, OK. Interment will be at Newcastle Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle, OK. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Home.
