Myrtle Geraldine (Hudson), “Gerrie” Cheek, passed from this life on Thursday, July 4, 2013, in Shawnee, OK. She was born in Purcell, OK, on August 22, 1922, to Henry Dallas Hudson and Essie (Stonecypher) Hudson. As a child, she lived in the Coalgate area, the Gap area, as well as Purcell. She graduated from high school in Washington, OK. In 1942, she married Paul Cheek and together they raised a son, Mel and a daughter, Paulette. Gerrie was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed keeping up with cousins, attending many Stonecypher family reunions at Lake Texoma. In 1977, she and Paul pulled up stakes in Elk City, OK to build their retirement home in the Oakdale Addition west of Shawnee, part of a 35 acre tract of land they developed. Gerrie was a loving wife and mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a good friend.

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Paul; Her son, Mel; Her parents, Henry and Essie Hudson; Sisters, Juanita “Ted” and V’Otis and Infant twins.

Gerri leaves behind: Her daughter, Paulette Belshe and husband Gordon of Tecumseh; Grandsons, Jeff Cheek and wife Jamie of Duncansville, PA, Michael Mayes of Edmond, OK, Rob Belshe of Shawnee, OK and Jim Belshe of Chicago, IL; Great granddaughters, Morgan Cheek and Leslie Brownlee; Nephews, Dallas Tarp, Rev. Dale Tarp, Wyman Cheek; Niece, Pat Getto and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
