Morris Dow Beauford

Morris Dow Beauford, age 85 of Powderly, TX, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013at Paris Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. Morris was born November 1, 1927 in Tishomingo, OK, the only child of Dow Beauford and Edith (Whatley) Beauford. He was lovingly raised by his grandparents Jim and Lulu Bagby Whatley. He married his true love, a young lady named Geraldine “Jerry” Virginia Summers. They were married on April 19, 1949. Together they raised five children; sons, Jimmy Don, Paul Kevin and Morris Wayne and daughters, Sue and Virginia. Morris worked most of his life in the oil fields. They lived in various towns throughout Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. In December of 1978, they retired and moved to Powderly, TX to be close to their children. Morris was a hard worker and great provider, a wonderful example of a husband and father. He cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he will be greatly missed! Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling with his wife, he was an avid fisherman, a Texas Ranger Baseball fan and he enjoyed keeping a garden. In his spare time he also enjoyed his friends at the coffee shop and reminiscing about the good old days of working in the oil field.

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Geraldine “Jerry” Beauford on Sept. 1, 2006, His parents and grandparents, 3 sons, Jimmy Don, Kevin Paul and Morris Wayne Beauford,

Morris leaves behind: His daughters, Sue Ellison and husband Wendell of Powderly, TX, Virginia Corneby and husband Vaughn of Hurst, TX, Daughter-in-law: Sandy Beauford of Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK. A visitation will be held at noon on Friday at the Funeral Home prior to the graveside. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Drew, Travis, Josh, Aaron, Zachary Beauford and Casey Ellison. Arrangements by Wilson-Little of Purcell, OK.
