Eisenhour Funeral Home
Blanchard, McClain Co, OK
(permission granted)
Ruby Frances Smith-Adkins, 101, of Purcell, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024.
Ruby was born at home in Siskiyou County, California on March 26, 1923 to Calvin and Margaret Smith. She was the oldest of ten children. Ruby and her husband, Dick Adkins, were married on July 31, 1950. Together, along with their three children, they lived in rural McClain County, Oklahoma operating their family dairy.
Ruby loved to cook, and most knew and loved her fry bread she would make for Indian taco sales at the Chickasaw Nation Center in Purcell. If she was not cooking or canning, you could find her at a lake fishing. Her trivia and crossword skills, wittiness, and laugh will definitely be missed.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dick, her son, Mike Adkins, and seven siblings. She is survived by her children, Janice (John) Clift, Gary (Danni) Adkins, brother Ted (Jackie) Smith, sister Gwyn Jennings, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to send special thanks to all of Ruby’s friends at the Chickasaw Nation center in Purcell, Elara Hospice, and family friend, Trina Lowery.
Donations in memory of Ruby can be made to Elara Hospice in Purcell, or to your favorite charity.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in the Dibble Cemetery, Dibble, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
