Elroy Ray Lewis was born on October 20, 1954, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Henry and Rubessia Lewis.

He was baptized at an early age at Red Rock Baptist Church in Byars, Oklahoma.

He was educated in the McClain County Public School System and graduated from Wayne High School in 1972, where he participated in track, football, and baseball.

Following high school, Elroy enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country for four years.

Elroy began his career with Dolese Brothers Company and later served with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Health as a Maintenance Engineer and Groundskeeper, where he dedicated many years before retiring. Known for his quiet spirit and loving heart, Elroy deeply cherished his family.

Elroy deeply cherished his family. As the youngest sibling, he held a special place among them. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved Nisha. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, hunting, and fishing.

Elroy transitioned from this life on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Integris Hospice House.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rubessia Lewis; his brothers, Joe, Edward, and Leon; and his sisters, Thelma, Melva, Hazel, and Mary.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Tanisha Thompson; sisters, Ora Berry (Carl), Chrislene Fletcher (Charles), and Betty Green (Steve); brother, June Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Blue Branch Cemetery near Byars.
