Billy Gene “Bill” Wooten, 93, of Blanchard, died Thursday, June 4, 2020, in Oklahoma City.  The son of Heber Lenoir Wooten and Ellen May (Roberts) Wooten, he was born May 9, 1927, in Amber, Oklahoma.
 

Bill served in the United States Army during World War II and then served in the Air Force Reserve during the Korean Conflict.  He married Dorothy Pearl Bashara on October 10, 1953 in Blanchard, Oklahoma.  Bill worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for many years and was a member of the Newcastle Freewill Baptist Church.  In his spare time, Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing dominoes, and listening to country music and books on tape.  When he was able, he enjoyed taking part in various activities at the Senior Citizens Centers in Blanchard, Newcastle, and Tuttle.  His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Wooten; two sisters, Irma Wooten and Mavis Miller Clark; and one brother, Dale Wooten.
 

Bill is survived by one daughter, Darlene Wooten of Oklahoma City; two sons, Larry Wooten of Oklahoma City, and Gary Wooten and wife, Corlis, of Texas; two grandchildren, Gary Wooten, Jr. and Jennifer Wooten, both of Texas; one sister-in-law, Lydia Wooten of Oklahoma City; a niece, Carolyn Myers and her family of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. 

Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
