Lucy Florence VanWie, 98, of Norman, formerly of Blanchard, died Friday, March 21, 2014 in Norman. The daughter of Justin A. and Bessie Lee (Crump) Winter, she was born October 28, 1915 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Lucy married George William “Bill” VanWie on October 5, 1935 in Blanchard. She and her husband owned and operated The Blanchard News for over 35 years. Lucy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blanchard. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and sewing. Lucy loved playing cards and being a part of her bridge club, but her greatest love was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill VanWie.

Lucy is survived by her son Justin VanWie and his wife, Val, of Belleville, Illinois; her daughter, Judy Cole and her husband, Preslie, of Blanchard; five grandchildren, Laura Schulte and husband, Kynn, of Arlington, Texas, Charity Waggoner and husband, Alan, of Blanchard, Lucy Walker and husband, Jimmy, of Edmond, Stephanie VanWie of Edmond, and Kimberly VanWie of Texas; ten great grandchildren; other loved ones and friends.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com
