Calvin Dean Underwood, 65, of Blanchard, died Friday, November 8, 2019 in Norman.

The son of Louis Joel Underwood and Tressie (Lyda) Underwood, he was born April 25, 1954 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of seventeen children.

Calvin married Jo Ann Rich on June 13, 1975 in Anadarko. He worked as an environmental specialist with the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribe for 28 years and was Christian in faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins, beadwork, fishing, being outdoors, cooking and grilling. Calvin was a Chickasaw and his father was an original enrollee on the Dawes Rolls. He was very proud of his Native American heritage and traditions.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers; and five sisters.


Calvin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jo Underwood of Blanchard; one daughter, Cali Underwood and George Johnson, of Norman; one son, Christopher Underwood of Blanchard; one granddaughter, Megan Johnson of Norman; one sister, Joyce Vinyard of Anadarko; one brother, Donald Underwood of Purcell; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Underwood of Disney; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.

Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.   Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard.
