Ruthey Raye (Greenroyd) Thomas, 82, of Newcastle, died August 9, 2012 in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Maude Ertle (Miller) and Thomas Jefferson Greenroyd, she was born September 18, 1929 in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

She was a Baptist in faith and enjoyed gardening in her spare time. As a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, she volunteered many hours at the VA Hospital in Sulphur and sponsored several girls at Girl’s State. During her retirement, Ruthey and her husband spent countless hours camping and fishing, and served as camp hosts at many state parks. She also enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent seamstress and made many gifts for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sue Shipman; two brothers; and three sisters.

Ruthey is survived by her husband, Leon Thomas of Oklahoma City; son, Jackie Thomas and wife Reba of Oklahoma City; daughter, Edna Cornish of Newcastle; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Gene Greenroyd and wife Mary of Oklahoma City; and sister, Ora Greenroyd of Ardmore; many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard with interment held in the Blanchard Cemetery.
