Luther Dock “Buck” Strickland, 86, of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, formerly of Ben Wheeler, Texas, died Saturday, August 16, 2014, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The son of Luther Boyd Strickland and Lottie Francis (Phillips) Strickland, he was born June 28, 1928 in Martins Mill, Texas. Buck grew up and spent most of his life in Van Zandt County, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was Missionary Baptist in faith. Buck worked for many years as a barber in Dallas and Athens, Texas. In his younger years, he was a bronc rider and competed in rodeos all across the United States. In his spare time, he enjoyed ranching, farming, small engine repair and taking part in the First Monday swap meets in Canton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and five sisters, Venita Lou, Pat, Mary, Harva, and Marlie.

Buck is survived by his wife, Renita Strickland of Gatesville, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Turner and Annette Hiller, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral service and burial will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in the Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
