Wayne Douglas Stokes, 72, of Blanchard, died October 29, 2012, in Norman, Oklahoma. The son of Carl Russell and Berniece Ann (Taylor) Stokes, he was born September 25, 1940, in Konawa, Oklahoma.

He earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree and a Master’s Degree in Pharmacology from OU. Wayne married Donna Lou Harber on September 19, 1957, in Okemah, Oklahoma. He was an independent oil producer and was a past officer of the Independent Petroleum Association of America and a member of the One Mile Energy Club. Wayne served on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and was past President of Seminole County Cattlemen’s Association. He was also a member of the OU Alumni Association. Wayne enjoyed traveling, deep sea fishing, and loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joyce Stokes and Charlotte Bonin.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Stokes, of Blanchard; daughter, Cinthia Brooks and husband, Terry Brooks, of Blanchard; two grandchildren, Blair Ward and husband, Brody Ward, of Oklahoma City and Blaine Brooks of Blanchard; sisters, Jean Stokes Taylor and husband, John E. Taylor, of Pearland, Texas and Carlene Stokes Craddock of Moore; three nephews, Randy, Kevin, and Terry; seven nieces, Lisa, Tonya, Tara, Gina, Sheri, Sheila, and Lori; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Blanchard with interment to follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
