Georgia Lee Stanford, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord on January 12, 2021, at the age of 89.

She was born on May 28, 1931, to Oliver and Nellie Elsie (Henley) Faller in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Georgia attended her first four years of school in Moore, Oklahoma. At the age of 10, her family moved to South Oklahoma City, where she finished her education and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1949. After graduation, she went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as a keypunch operator, where she met the love of her life, Joe Sherman Stanford, Sr. from Newcastle. They were married on May 11, 1951. They were happily married for 42 years, and together raised six children, including her two stepsons, Joe Jr. (Joey), and Albert James (A.J.), whom she loved dearly, and raised as her own. Georgia was a homemaker, quitting her job at Tinker AFB to raise her growing family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and it always put a spark in her eyes.

Georgia was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Newcastle where she served many years in the nursery, Vacation Bible School, and serving meals to the bereaved. She was also an active member of the church choir for many years, which she enjoyed immensely.

Georgia was an active member of the Newcastle Extension Homemakers Club for 36 years where she held several officer positions. She worked at the Newcastle election board for several years. Georgia was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3608 in Blanchard, Oklahoma. She also enjoyed being a member of the Racy Red Hatters Society of Newcastle.

Georgia loved baking and she made Joe a heart-shaped valentine cake every year for 43 years. She would also make her children and grandchildren a dessert of their choice for their birthday. She made the best chocolate and coconut cream pies. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, crafts, traveling with friends and watching Days of Our Lives. Georgia really enjoyed the family outings to the lake for camping and water skiing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe, and son, Joey, daughter-in-law, Renee Stanford, and grandchildren, Aaron James Stanford, and Jackie, Paislee and Bryndle Boyles.

Georgia is survived by son, A. J. Stanford, and wife, Julie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Sharlotte Epps, and husband, Roger of Tuttle, Oklahoma; son, William Oliver (Billy) Stanford, and wife, Judy of Newcastle, Oklahoma; son, Allen Stanford and wife, Pixie, of Newcastle, Oklahoma; daughter, Janice Murray and husband, Alvin, of Newcastle, Oklahoma; and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Stanford, of Newcastle, Oklahoma. Also surviving her are 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four siblings: her sister, Dolores Beaty, of Newcastle, Oklahoma; brother, Lindsey Faller, and wife, Wanda, of Anacortes, Washington; sister, Shirley Berna, and husband, Jerry Harry, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and sister, Sandra Vassar, and husband, Clarence, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Jeremy Freeman at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 18, at the First Baptist Church of Newcastle, Oklahoma under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle and interment will be at the Blanchard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Agape Road Hospice Home at agaperoad.org or to Living the Vision Fund, First Baptist Church of Newcastle, P.O. Box 299, Newcastle, Oklahoma 73065.
