William James DeWitt Soward entered into eternal peace on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his home in Waldorf, Maryland. James came into this world on October 11, 1963 in Long Beach, California, son of William Carol Soward and Rosie Josephine (Catalino) Soward. He was 53 years old at the time of his passing.

James attended Blanchard Elementary School and graduated from Andrew J. Terrell High School in 1981. After graduating from high school, James studied at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. James served in the Navy and Navy Reserve as an intelligence specialist. After leaving the Navy Reserve, James worked in a similar capacity for the Civil Service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Soward.

James is survived by his mother, Rosie J. Soward, of Blanchard; two brothers, Patrick H. Soward and wife, Beth, of Blanchard, and John C. Soward, of Grand Prairie, Texas; a sister-in-law, Joyce Massey of Shawnee; his nieces and nephews, Jason Soward and wife, Mistie, of Cooper, Texas, Ashley Smith of Tuttle, and Steven Soward and wife, Amanda, of Shawnee; special friends, Carrie Levenhagen and Carrie Buckles, both of Waldorf, Maryland; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard.

Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
