Gary Doyle Lemons, 66, of Blanchard, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 5, 2013 in Oklahoma City. The son of William Doyle and Pauline (Vandaveer) Lemons, he was born September 5, 1946 in Oklahoma City.
Gary graduated from Blanchard High School in 1964. He married Florence Lillian Shoemake on March 18, 1967 in Blanchard, Oklahoma. He worked as a welder at Tinker AFB until his retirement in 1996. Gary was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, golf, and gardening but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Christopher Michael Lemons, and one brother, Charles Lemons.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Lemons of Blanchard; daughters, Melisa Dubbs and husband, Jeff, of Blanchard and Khristen Hines and husband, Vollie, of Blanchard; one granddaughter, five grandsons, and one more on the way; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 8, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard. Interment will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Florence Lillian “Flo” Lemons, 74, of Blanchard, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at her home. The daughter of Charles Edward Shoemake and Zola Fern (Forbes) Shoemake, she was born March 9, 1950, in Clovis, New Mexico.
Flo married Gary Doyle Lemons on March 18, 1967, in Blanchard, Oklahoma. She worked as a project manager for the FAA and then at Kerr McGee for many years until her retirement. Flo was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, going to the lake, and dancing. Flo loved traveling and her favorite place to visit was the beach. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Christopher Michael Lemons; her husband, Gary Lemons; and a sister, Cheryl.
Flo is survived by two daughters, Melisa Dubbs and her husband, Jeff, of Blanchard, and Khristen Hines and her husband, Vollie, of Blanchard; seven grandchildren, Kyra Cox and her husband, Tyler, of California, Joshua Dubbs of Blanchard, Tyler Hines of Blanchard, Jordan Hines of Tuttle, Gavin Hines of Tuttle, Vollie Hines, II, of Blanchard, and Lillian Hines of Blanchard; an honorary grandson, Ford Creech of Tuttle; two sisters, Kathryn Barta of Blanchard, and Charlene Hughes and her husband, Jim, of Norman; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loved ones and friends.
Viewing for family and friends will be from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2024, at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
