Lillian Rebecca “Becky” (Clanton) Cottrell Harmon passed away on February 5, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma.

She was born in Blanchard, Oklahoma on July 11, 1939 to Bill and Lillian Clanton. Becky was the seventh of eleven children. She grew up in Blanchard, married at a young age, and moved to Chickasha where she lived for over 50 years. She and her older sister, Vina Lou Bowring, opened the Bowring-Cottrell Tax Service in Blanchard in the 1970’s. Becky kept the business going after Vina Lou passed away. She prepared the taxes for many, many people in the Blanchard area until she retired in December 2015 and closed her doors.

Becky was a very proud woman and cherished her family both immediate and extended. Blood was not the only thing that made you family to her. A great friend was just as treasured to her. She had an ornery twinkle in her eye and a smile that would light up a room. She was never afraid of hard work and expected that from others. She was not fond of hand outs, yet was the first to help you when you really needed it. Becky spoke the truth even when it was hard to hear, but it was always coming from a place of love. Those who were fortunate enough to know that love understood it was genuine and for life. Her sometimes gruff exterior was almost comical to those who knew who she really was. She was definitely a case of a bark being much worse than her bite. When she talked, you could hear Becky clear across the room as she was not capable of whispering. She was smart as evidenced by how well she knew the tax codes. People would bring all their receipts and paperwork to her jumbled in a box and she would always figure it out. She loved vegetables and every summer had a great garden. Many a hot summer day after she worked all day, you could find her on the riding lawn mower mowing the grass. As she was part Cherokee, she liked American Indian art as well as western art sculpture. Becky was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers with easily over 300 pairs. She also had a doll collection and they had their own bedroom.

Becky was very lucky to find love again in her mid-fifties when she married Bobby Harmon. She would light up and laugh when Bobby was near. He treasured her and she him. They loved old cars and to win at the casino.

Becky is survived by Bobby; one son, Ronnie Cottrell and his wife Connie; one daughter, Traci Cottrell Stockstill and her husband Steve; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her youngest brother Dean Clanton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Lillian Clanton; two sisters, Vina Lou Bowring and Mary Barbara McCracken; seven brothers, Billie, C.E., Dickie, Jerry, Lillard, Danny Joe, and Jackie; and her first husband, R.D. Cottrell.

Becky Harmon has left a lasting impact on all who have known her.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 10, 2017, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.

Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
