Kenneth Eugene Doerksen, 70, of Blanchard, died Monday, September 14, 2020, at his home. The son of Edward and Joy (Walker) Doerksen, he was born September 5, 1950, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He graduated from Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City in 1968. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States State Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam. He then earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University, and worked at Tinker Airforce Base and the FAA and retired with 36 years of federal service. It was at the FAA that he met the love of his life, Kim Shannon. He and Kim were married 41 years and had two marvelous children, Jennifer and Kyle.

He was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ and the VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed walking the neighborhood, doing yardwork, running errands and finding new ways to make his family laugh. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and Stephen, his cat.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his beloved wife, Kim and son, Kyle from Portland, Oregon, his daughter, Jennifer and her husband Tad McGalliard from Blanchard, along with his grandchildren, Emilia and Emmet. Ken cherished his grandchildren. A recent gift he requested for his 70th birthday was a t-shirt that read “To be a Veteran is an Honor, Being a Grandparent is Priceless.” Ken’s motto was “Life is Good”.

Other survivors include his sister, Wandalee and her husband, Tim Keating of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a nephew, Daniel Martin and his wife, Kristen of Virginia Beach, a niece, Julie and her husband, Paul Camardella of Virginia Beach, and many other relatives.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2020, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will follow at the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
