SFC Tony Kenneth Burris Obit

SFC. Tony Kenneth Burris was killed 9 October 1951 in North Korea. He was born on 30 May 1929 in Blanchard Oklahoma and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Burris Jr., of Blanchard. Tony graduated from Blanchard High School and had attended a specialist's school in electrical engineering just prior to his overseas assignment . He was waiting rotation and had planned to attend officer candidate school when he was back in the states.

He had served with the 38th Infantry Regiment of the Second Division in Korea since January 24, 1951. He had been wounded February 5 at Massacre Valley and had returned to front line duty in March. He wrote to his sister in March that he would not be there long with the bullet in the fleshy part of his leg.

According to Ancestry, SFC Burris is survived by his parents Sid and Mabel Burris and siblings Loretta, Wanda, Sidney, Joyce and Carline Burris.

He is buried in Blanchard Cemetery as are his parents and one of the siblings.
