Eisenhour Funeral Home
Blanchard, McClain Co, OK
(permission granted)

Birdie “LaMoyne” (Pybas) Brooks, 85, of Blanchard, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2020. She spent her last moments with her loving husband of 68 years, by her side.

LaMoyne was born November 21, 1934, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, to John Wiggins Pybas and Myrtle May (Hendrix) Pybas. She was the youngest of 12 children. LaMoyne married her high school sweetheart, George Brooks, on September 7, 1951 and graduated from Blanchard High School in 1952. She worked at the FAA for 30 years as a Pilot’s License Reviewer. The couple stayed in Blanchard throughout their lives, raising their 3 children, and then enjoying retirement together.

LaMoyne was the mother of 3, grandmother of 5, and great grandmother of 8. Her children were the lights of her life. She was so proud of each of their accomplishments. She would always tell George, “we must have done something right with how our boys turned out.” She was an example of love, strength, and dedication, and raised her children to love the Lord.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Blanchard for over 60 years, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, serving in the kitchen, and helping with the youth group. She attended numerous years of Falls Creek camp where she served as a cook. She was a sports fanatic who attended as many Oklahoma Sooners sporting events as possible. One of her greatest joys was cheering on her children and grandchildren at various sports and extracurricular activities over the years. She attended any game, choir program, band concert, and graduation that she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruby McAlister and Mary Golden; four brothers, J.B., Garth, Woodrow, and Frank Pybas; and a son, Douglas Brooks.

LaMoyne is survived by her husband of 68 years, George Brooks of Blanchard; son, John Brooks and wife, Beth, of Gainesville, Texas; son, Kevin Brooks and wife, Cheryl, of Blanchard; grandson, Greg Brooks and wife, Kenna, of Marlow; granddaughter, Bonnie Rucker and husband, Eddie, of Gainesville, Texas; granddaughter, Emily Hefton and husband, Dustin, of Blanchard; grandson, Mark Brooks and wife, Jules, of Nacogdoches, Texas; granddaughter, Alyson Aberle and husband, Brett, of Wichita, Kansas; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Chloe, and Cooper Brooks of Marlow, Shawn, MaKenzie, and Jesse Rucker of Gainesville, Texas, Emmarie Brooks of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Remington Hefton of Blanchard; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sedall and Rosetta Brooks of Blanchard; sister-in-law, Doris Pybas of Fort Smith, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard.

Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
