Stanley Ray "Stan" Adams, 88, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, died at home surrounded by his family on September 23, 2023.

He was born in Bethany in 1935 to Fines and Mildred Adams. Stan was from a large family and had 11 brothers and sisters. Stan attended Will Rogers Field elementary, Jackson Junior High and Capitol Hill high school before joining the Navy in 1952 at age 17 and serving in the Korean War. Following his time in the Navy, Stan went to work at Tinker performing testing on jet engines and then joined the computer department at the FAA doing computer sciences and was managing the telecommunications department when he retired.

Stan met the love of his life, Marlene in 1954 at Will Rogers Field apartments. Lucky for Stan, his sister lived next door to Marlene and the rest is history. Excited to start their new lives together, the two eloped in Greenville, Mississippi on May 5th, 1957. Stan and Marlene were together for 69 years and married for 66 years. Stan was exceptionally proud of his marriage and enjoyed talking about his “girl” to anyone who would listen.

Stan and Marlene had two children, Mike and Carolyn, who he adored. Stan always made summer vacationing with kids a priority and worked hard to make it happen. They went to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farms, Lake Tenkiller, Colorado, and other memorable places.

Though he loved golfing, 4-wheeling in the mountains, fly fishing and spending time with Marlene, Stan’s favorite role was that as a grandparent and great grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Poppa and Big Poppa never failing to attend every school activity, sporting event, holiday, birthday party or family vacation. Stan was well known for his grandkid “handshakes” and could always be found behind the video camera or proudly cheering in the stands.

Stan was an active member of the Methodist Church of Blanchard, Blanchard Lions Club, Grand Marshall of the Veterans Day Parade and American Legion.

We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, parent, grandparent, and great grandparent and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Fines and Mildred Adams, his siblings Barbara Givens, Wanda Larson, Betty Brown, Fines Adams Jr, Jerry Adams, Wayne Adams and Johnny Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Adams; children, Mike Adams and wife Barbara, Carolyn Sill and husband John; grandchildren, Amanda Lewis and husband Jeremy, Micha Rader and husband Jon, Rachel Jackson and husband Sean, Kellby Owen and husband Rickey and Caitlin Sill; great grandchildren, Rhett, Fynlee and Charlie Lewis, Mackinzie Taylor, Griffin and Grayson Rader and Grey Jackson; siblings, Tom Adams, Pat Gates and husband Gerald, Tracie Norton and husband Buddy, Debbie Conley and husband Chris and many other family members and beloved friends.

Stan’s final goodbye will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Methodist Church of Blanchard at 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
